Privacy Statement
The Benefit Guys, (TBG), is an Independent Broker and deals direct with benefit providers and the public in general. We deal only with employee benefits in various forms. We are required to follow all privacy legislation and privacy codes laid out for us.
As Independent Brokers, TBG is committed to holding our clients’ personal and business information in strictest confidence, and we only disclose that information if authorized by the client, directly to TBG or through the client's broker, if required by law to do so, or if required in conducting business with insurers.
It is a requirement, for all Brokers who are affiliated with The Benefit Guys, that all appropriate legislation be followed.
Accountability
TBG is accountable for all personal information in its possession, including any personal information disclosed to third parties for processing or other administrative procedures. TBG has established policies and procedures to comply with this declaration, and has designated a privacy officer.
Identify Purposes
TBG, through its distribution network, will identify the purposes for which it collects personal information, before or when the information is collected.
Client's Consent
TBG, through its brokers, will make a reasonable effort to make sure clients understand how their personal information will be used by its distribution and its insurers. TBG, through its brokers, will obtain consent from their clients when it is required.
A client's consent can be expressed, implied or given through an authorized representative. A client can withdraw consent at any time, with certain exceptions.
No Call Lists
TBG recognizes that some people have placed their contact numbers on appropriate No Call Lists in their residential jurisdiction. By placing your name and contact information on a Client Data Inquiry, you are allowing yourself to be contacted by TBG or any of its Authorized Brokers. This contact shall be related to the nature of your inquiry and your name and contact number will not be placed in an automatic follow up program unless specifically requested by you.
Email Address and Phone Number Information
TBG is not in the business of harvesting phone numbers and email addresses. Under no conditions, unless required by law, will TBG share any contacting client information with any third party, that is not immediately affiliated or immediately associated with TBG.
Limits for the Use, Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
TBG will use or disclose personal information only for the reasons that it was collected, unless a client gives consent to use or disclose it for another reason, or it is permitted or required by law.
Under certain exceptional circumstances, TBG may have a legal duty or right to disclose personal information without the client's knowledge or consent to protect the interests of insurers or the public interest. TBG will keep personal information only as long as legally necessary for the identified purposes for which it was collected.
Keeping Personal Information Accurate
TBG will keep personal information as accurate, complete and current as necessary for the identified purposes for which it was collected.
Clients may, in writing, challenge the accuracy and completeness of their personal information and request that it be amended as appropriate.
TBG protects personal information with safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Information Policies Available to The Benefit Guys Clients
TBG is open about the policies and procedures it uses to manage personal information. Clients have access to information about these policies and procedures. The information will be made available in a manner that is generally easy to understand.
Accessibility of Personal Information
When a client makes a written request, TBG will, within a reasonable amount of time, advise what personal information it has, what it is being used for, and to whom it has been disclosed.
